For the ultimate rock-solid bottom end, the MiataRoadster customized main bearing support plate (MBSP) enables securing all five main caps to prevent crank flex on high-output engines.
The Mazda BP engine’s stock #3 main cap does not have threaded bosses to bolt to the MBSP, so it will necessary to upgrade to Pro-Gram Engineering billet main caps. which have the bosses on all five caps.
Includes (10) ARP stainless steel 12-point bolts with washers.
PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING:
1) The MBSP requires use of a 2001-2005 oil pan or modifying a 1994-2000 oil pan.
2) If using with a 1994-2000 oil pan, you’ll need to:
a) have a machine shop mill the lip of your oil pan to remove the ~1/8” thickness of the lip of the MBSP which gets sandwiched between the block and oil pan. This is necessary so that the transmission bell housing bolt holes remain lined up with the bolt holes in the oil pan.
b) grind or machine scallops in the walls of the oil pan to fit the contours of the MBSP.
3) installing billet steel main caps to take advantage of our 5-cap MBSP will require your machine shop to line-bore your block and main caps.
PLEASE DISCUSS THE ABOVE WITH YOUR MACHINE SHOP BEFORE ORDERING TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE CAPABLE OF DOING THIS WORK FOR YOU.
